The MAXI-1 has been specially designed to offer large capacities and support for heavy work in a compact design. Combining Record’s traditional swivel head functionality with modern construction and high quality electronic control, this machine is ideal for the professional woodturner as well as the dedicated enthusiast. This heavy duty lathe is used by professional woodturners such as Mark Sanger and Sarah Thirlwell - A true indication of its superior performance and reliability.

Cast iron features heavily in the construction of this machine, including the legs, headstock, tailstock and cast bed. The power, solidity and value of this machine is unrivalled in its class.
 
The machine has now been upgraded to feature a M33 x 3.5 spindle thread, ensuring even greater strength and stability.

Record Power have long been advocates of swivel head machines which not only reduce floorspace required for outboard turning as this can be achieved in front of the lathe - but also enables many different angles to be set so access from the traditional bed mounted toolrest can be improved on hollow vessels for example. The headstock is a large heavy casting and is repositioned easily with a cam operated locking mechanism.

The whole machine is very heavily built with extensive use of cast iron throughout - including the legs. Electronic speed control is delivered by a high quality inverter system from Schneider and all main components operate on easy to use cam locks. Weighing in at over 230kg and with a swing of 20 degrees over the bed this lathe will handle the most demanding applications with consummate ease and we believe the value for money offered here will redefine the heavy sector of the market.
